Crossing Day 1

Awhile back, when I built the shooting schedule for Crossing, I realized that our first day, today, would be our longest day at 14 hours, and it would be the day we’d film some of the most difficult and complex shots of the film. We knew we’d be outside all day, but the weather forecast said thunderstorms. At one point we were a crew of 8 people on set at once, each with a distinct role... among them, 2 were driving vehicles that had to coordinate their speed and distance between one another. We even tackled a small but somewhat dangerous stunt.
So anyway I think I got a solid 3 hours of sleep last night.
But after a VERY long shoot today, Crossing Day 1 is in the can. The best part: ask anyone who was there... they’ll tell you that everything turned out even better than we could have hoped for. I’m working with some of the most talented actors and dedicated crew members that a director could ask for, and today’s success is very much a testament to them and their hard work... John Prud'homme, Tanner Shaw, Eleanor Langthorne, Ryan Anastasi, Alex Homewood, Jacob Dandurand (and Cassie and Danny), I can’t thank you all enough!
So, we’re off to a great start... I’m still a bit nervous, but beyond excited to continue filming next weekend.
In the meantime, I’ll let you all try to figure out where we are and what we’re doing in the color set photo, and give you a brief glimpse at a scene of the film in black and white.
